Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Gideon Sa’ar today in Jerusalem to discuss further improving relations between the two countries.
Đurić emphasised at a news conference that the talks also focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in technology and innovation.
With the growing IT and software industry, Belgrade has become a centre for many high-tech companies, both from the United States and Europe. This is why Serbia seeks to build its future in this area in partnership with Israel, the Minister said.
Đurić conveyed that the talks also covered cooperation in the field of tourism, noting that Serbia encourage Israeli tourists’ visits to Serbia and vice versa.
The Jewish community in Serbia is an exceptionally important part of the country’s society, he noted.
Regarding Kosovo and Metohija, Đurić conveyed that he informed his Israeli interlocutors about the ongoing hardships faced by the Serb people in our southern province.
He also said that he informed Sa’ar about Serbia’s ambition to constructively maintain stability in the region, which he stressed is crucial for European security.
The head of Israeli diplomacy emphasised his determination to strengthen bilateral relations with Serbia, and in this context pointed out the importance of high-level visits.
He confirmed that Israel will participate in Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade, in another step forward in deepening relations between the two countries.
While thanking Serbia for the decision to lift its travel warning to Israel, the minister expressed confidence that tourism will also be strengthened with the resumption of direct flights, and invited Israeli citizens to visit Serbia.
