Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić assessed today in Jerusalem, in a conversation with Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana, that the Serbian and Jewish people are bound by historical friendship, understanding and cooperation.
Đurić expressed his belief that his visit to Israel will contribute to further strengthening relations and ties between the two countries, noting that Serbia is committed to further improving cooperation with Israel in various areas.
The Minister noted that a special contribution to relations between the two countries is made by members of both parliaments, especially those involved in the work of the parliamentary friendship groups.
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed Serbia’s interest in continuing economic cooperation, which, as he pointed out, has been on the rise in recent years and is reflected, among other things, in the increase in Israeli investments.
The Minister informed Ohana about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, warning of the vulnerability of the Serb population and the frequent provocations and unilateral moves by Priština.
Đurić expressed hope that all those kidnapped in the Hamas attack on Israel, including Serbian-Israeli citizen Alon Ohel, will be released as soon as possible.
During a meeting with Tzachi Hanegbi, National Security Advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Đurić assessed that relations between the two nations are based on centuries-old friendship, but also good cooperation in modern times.
Đurić informed Hanegbi about Serbia’s economic results and investment potential, expressing his readiness to continue working on a free trade agreement, which would provide additional impetus to the business community.
