The inscription on the ribbon on the wreath read "To Dr. Zoran Djindjic from the Government of the Republic of Serbia".
Zoran Djindjic was assassinated on 12 March 2003, in the courtyard of the Serbian government building. Officer of the Special Operations Unit (JSO) of the State Security Department Zvezdan Jovanovic was sentenced to 40 years in prison for his murder, while JSO Commander Milorad Ulemek received the same sentence for organising the murder.
