Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with a delegation of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and representatives of Spanish companies, who yesterday, together with Serbian companies, participated in the second "Serbia-Spain" Business Forum.
Brnabic assessed that the bilateral relations of the two countries are extremely good, built on mutual respect and support on issues of the greatest national interest, first of all, through the preservation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our countries and the readiness to improve all forms of cooperation.
The Prime Minister stated that the commitment and readiness of both sides to intensify the political dialogue is evidenced by the recent visit of Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez to Serbia, which is also the first visit of a Spanish official at the highest level to our country in the recent history of bilateral relations.
Speaking about economic cooperation, she emphasised that Serbia and Spain are recording a constant growth in trade and the increased interest of Spanish companies that want to invest in our market.
She pointed out that, bearing in mind that Serbia managed to achieve financial stability and security for domestic and foreign investors, and the Serbian economy showed great resilience during the challenging period of the pandemic, the government's strategic plans are a further continuation of infrastructure projects, through which cooperation can be achieved and with investors from this country.
Brnabic noted that the government's focus in the future will be projects in the field of energy, renewable energy sources, environmental protection, but also investments in the field of biotechnology and biomedicine, where she invited representatives of Spanish companies to propose their projects.
Businessmen from Spain also mentioned investments in transport infrastructure, the pharmaceutical industry, energy and digital transformation, and the field of scientific research as areas with great investment potential.
At the meeting, it was pointed out that the holding of business forums, as well as the signed Framework Protocol on financial and technical cooperation between the two countries in the field of infrastructure projects, greatly contribute to better cooperation and easier establishment of business contacts between the two countries.
The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude to the Embassy of Spain in Serbia and the Chamber of Commerce of Spain for their commitment to the improvement of economic cooperation, for which she expressed her belief that in the coming period, the extremely good political relations between our countries will develop and be monitored.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and businessmen was also attended by Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Serbia Raul Bartolome Molina.
