Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nikola Selakovic led today a state wreath-laying ceremony to mark Armistice Day in the First World War.
Selakovic, who is also the president of the Committee for Nurturing the Tradition of the Liberation Wars of Serbia, laid a wreath on the memorial ossuary of the defenders of Belgrade in the First World War at the New Cemetery.
Wreaths were laid by delegations from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army, representatives of the City of Belgrade, representatives of associations determined to nurture the traditions of Serbia's liberation wars, veterans' associations and the diplomatic corps.
Beforehand, the Minister, in the capacity of the envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia, laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala.
On the occasion of Armistice Day in the First World War, wreaths were also laid today at the French cemetery in Belgrade, among others, by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic and French Ambassador to Serbia Pierre Cochard.
The wreath-laying ceremony was also held at the memorial ossuary for Russian soldiers killed in the First World War and at the Commonwealth cemetery.
