Gasic underlined that none of the Serbian firefighters – rescuers asked whether it was safe where they were going and how long they would stay, but they only thought about how quickly they would reach their destination and whether they would manage to save at least one life.
You saved three lives, and for eight days you were helping the Turkish people selflessly to repair consequences of the earthquake and rescue the endangered population, he added.
Aksoy said that this is a historic day in the relations between Turkey and Serbia and pointed out that Serbia did not leave Turkey to its fate on 6 February when it was hit by a strong earthquake, one of the strongest in the history of mankind.
Head of the specialist teams for rescue from the ruins Davor Vidovic said that they set off on the task entrusted to them without fear and with great hope that they would save lives and offer salvation to people in a difficult fight for their own lives.
