Further activities towards improving extraordinary bilateral relations between Serbia, China

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić stated tonight that seven decades of friendship between Serbia and the People’s Republic of China confirm that the two countries and two peoples are connected by unbreakable ties, deep understanding and mutual respect.

Addressing the guests of the New Year’s reception organised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Serbia, Đurić said that these ties are rooted in shared values and responses to today’s challenges.

He said that the Serbian and Chinese people and our two countries have successfully cultivated friendship and mutual trust and understanding since the establishment of cooperation in January 1955.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Chinese friends for the warm welcome during his recent official visit to China, emphasising that the talks he had there confirmed the friendship between the two countries and provided additional encouragement for further work on improving the extraordinary bilateral ties.

Đurić emphasised that Serbia is proud of the extraordinary relations it has with China, which are developed under the sign of a comprehensive strategic partnership and ironclad friendship.

The Serbian Foreign Minister pointed out that the two countries share values in the international arena such as commitment to peace, respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, and advocacy for the political independence of states.
