Brnabic pointed out that the meeting with the Chinese Premier was cordial and very open and assessed that the relations between the two countries are at their best in history, adding that politically we have no open issues.
She stated that she discussed with Li Qiang all aspects of cooperation and what can still be done in the future in the field of new technologies, innovation, artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
The recent visit of President Aleksandar Vucic to China was also discussed, which, as she emphasised, was extremely good and opened many doors.
According to her, the Chinese Premier said that that country is interested in many products from Serbia, not only agricultural and food products, and that the Free Trade Agreement with China will be of great help in this.
When it comes to the economy, the signing of this agreement represents the opening of a new era, Brnabic noted, recalling that until now we have signed a protocol on phytosanitary inspection for three types of products, for honey, honey products, fresh apples and pet food, and that negotiations regarding a protocol on the export of chicken meat and prunes are drawing to an end.
She said that she asked for this to be completed as soon as possible so that another significant step forward could be seen in 2024, although our exports to China have increased 185 times in the last ten years.
In 2022, our trade in goods exceeded $6 billion, which is an all-time high, Brnabic pointed out and added that China was the largest foreign investor in Serbia in 2021 and 2022, as well as in the first two quarters of 2023.
