On the occasion of the donation of IT equipment to the sattelite classroom of the aforementioned school, as part of the Broadband Communication Infrastructure Construction Project in rural areas of Serbia, emphasised that Internet access is very important in order for people to return to Serbia and stay in smaller towns.
It is important to show that there are no towns and municipalities that are of the first and second order. Every place is important if we want to have a victorious Serbia, where people stay or return, she said.
The Prime Minister said that the best news she heard today in Lomnica was that this school received eight new students, whose parents returned to Despotovac from Switzerland and Germany.
We want our people to return and have the same conditions as in the most advanced countries in the European Union, the Prime Minister said.
She pointed out that another important thing is to show in practice how important cooperation with the European Union is in several areas, among which are infrastructure, digitisation, culture, sports and economy.
The Prime Minister emphasised that this partnership is of essential importance for the faster development of Serbia, specifying that the EU invested €36 million in this project alone, and an additional €118 million through its financial institutions for reconstruction and development, through the most favourable loan.
In addition to the Prime Minister, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovic also visited the school, as well as Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret and Director of Telekom Srbija Vladimir Lucic.
The Ministry set out to fulfil that task, and Lomnica is the 161st village in Serbia that got high-speed internet, and in this way we have already covered about 25,000 households, that is, almost 70,000 inhabitants, said Jovanovic.
Giaufret said that social justice and economic potential are increased through digitisation.
So far, Serbia has invested a lot of money in digitisation and is working hand in hand with the European Union to bring this revolution to every corner of the country. That is why Serbia joined the joint project of super computing, i.e. the digital ecosystem, Giaufret pointed out.
