Prime Minister Miloš Vučević spoke today with Ambassador of Greece to Serbia Maria Levanti about bilateral relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Vučević pointed out that Serbia attaches great importance to the further improvement of cooperation with Greece, which is based on mutual trust and friendship between our two countries and peoples.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Greece for abstention during the vote on the resolution on Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly, assessing that this resolution will in no way contribute to the stabilisation of conditions in the region, nor to the improvement of relations between the Serb and Bosniak people.
Serbia's strategic goal is to contribute to a better life for all citizens in the region through infrastructure and development projects, the Prime Minister emphasised.
Vučević pointed out that Serbia greatly appreciates Greece's support in matters of territorial integrity and sovereignty, and that country's firm position that it does not recognize the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo. He also pointed out the importance of Greece's involvement in accelerating the process of Serbia's European integration, which remains our strategic direction.
Levanti assessed that the relations between the two countries are friendly and that they are connected by sincere support and friendship and conveyed that Greece will not change its position regarding Kosovo and Metohija.
Stating that progress has been observed in numerous areas, she confirmed that Greece will continue to strive to support Serbia's European path, primarily through the opening of Cluster 3.
The two officials concluded that it is necessary to increase the economic cooperation between the two countries in areas where there is significant unused potential and expressed the expectation that this year's jubilee - the 145th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, will help raise the cooperation between the two brotherly countries to an even higher level.
The Greek ambassador congratulated Prime Minister Vučević on his new position and wished him success in his future professional work.
