The Ministry of European Integration announced that today the United States of America, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), announced an additional $18 million in development aid to Serbia, through amendments to existing agreements.

The joint statement of the Ministry of European Integration and USAID states that these funds will be used, among other things, to improve public procurement procedures in Serbia, improve access to justice for citizens, improve environmental protection and energy security, promote a stronger media environment, improvement of economic opportunities for vulnerable groups, as well as for greater competitiveness of the Serbian economy.
Minister Tanja Miščević thanked the United States of America for its strong support for Serbia on its European journey and stated that the new 18 million dollars in grants to our country represent the continuation of cooperation with one of the most important development partners.
US Ambassador Christopher Hill said that today is another important date in the long history of our development partnership. The United States, through USAID, is providing an additional $18 million in aid to Serbia through our existing agreements, in order to help Serbia's economy to be more competitive and for state institutions to improve their functioning, the Ambassador emphasised.
According to him, along with these agreements, the USA through USAID has invested $937 million so far to help Serbia cope with various challenges in the previous 23 years.
