The document was signed on the sidelines of the general debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
Expressing his satisfaction with the formalization of the decision to establish diplomatic relations, Đurić pointed out in a conversation with his Guyanese counterpart that Serbia is interested in improving overall bilateral relations and establishing cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
According to him, Serbia is ready for the intensification of political dialogue through the establishment of a political consultation mechanism, the exchange of high-level visits, as well as through cooperation within the regional organisations of the Western Hemisphere in which it has observer status.
Recalling that the former SFRY had good relations with Guyana, Đurić noted that there is ample space for the development of political and economic relations, as well as for cooperation in the field of higher education.
In this regard, Đurić introduced the interlocutor to the scholarship program for foreign students studying in Serbia, called "The World in Serbia", and expressed the hope that in the coming period Serbia will have the opportunity to host Guyanese students.
