The Prime Minister said that the final offer of the Serbian government is for all employees in the system of preschool, primary, secondary and higher education to have their salaries increased by 11% from 1 January 2025 and for all employees, except those at higher education institutions, to receive a one-off payment in the amount of RSD 15,000 by 9 January 2025. Moreover, the remuneration for head teachers is to be additionally raised by 1% from 1 January, he added.
Vučević also announced that amendments to the Criminal Code will be adopted by the end of the year to ensure additional legal protection for employees in the education system. Furthermore, negotiations on a separate collective agreement will be started immediately and work on amendments to the Law on the Fundamentals of the Education System intensified in order to strengthen the role and authority of teachers, he said.
The Prime Minister and union representatives agreed that the unions should respond to the offer of the Serbian government by the end of the week.
