Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs and President of the Committee for Cultivating the Tradition of the Liberation Wars of Serbia Nemanja Starović led today a state ceremony marking Armistice Day in the First World War.
The state ceremony was held at the Memorial Ossuary of the Defenders of Belgrade in the First World War at the New Cemetery, and in addition to Starović, wreaths were also laid by Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić and President of the Belgrade City Assembly Nikola Nikodijević.
Wreaths were also laid by Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, US ambassador to Belgrade Christopher Hill, delegations from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army, representatives of associations for nurturing the traditions of liberation wars of Serbia, veterans' associations and the diplomatic corps.
Wreaths were also laid at the French War Cemetery, as well as at the Memorial Ossuary of Russian soldiers killed in the First World War.
Wreaths were laid at the French War Cemetery by Minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora Đorđe Milićević, French Ambassador to Belgrade Pierre Cochard, as well as other representatives of the diplomatic corps.
Wreaths were laid at the Memorial Ossuary for Russian soldiers killed in the First World War by Minister without portfolio in charge of international economic cooperation and the social position of the church in the country and abroad Nenad Popović and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Belgrade Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko.
Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristić, as an envoy of the Serbian government, laid a laurel wreath at the Commonwealth War Cemetery.
